  If neither end is on an outside wall then I don`t see any reason for them to be on the same end, except maybe out of habit. It would probably be easier on the plumber to not put both systems on one end.

  I don`t think a plumber would do this on their own, as I know a bunch of builders that would have a shit fit if they did something like that out of the norm. Unfortunately the kind of thinking you`re talking about is also out of the norm. You`re talking about a 'custom' bathtub.
