In order to protect any any children at all we have to have some answers to at least some of them. Moral relativism is a great concept, but when you come down to making laws you have to have some ideas that are absolute for everyone who lives in the jurisdiction covered by those laws, because laws, by nature, have to be absolute. So you compromise, and you get a legal system that pisses everybody off a little, some a little more, and some folks just have to find another place to live, because what they believe is at such variance with most of the others that they can't share space.
Asking whether fire is a natural event isn't going to save your house when that's what's burning. This is just me, and I know well that I don't run things, but I am completely comfortable with the idea that forcing young girls to have sex and bear children for older men is just wrong. |
