As you see most of the World is paying far more per gallon as US customer. However, the great equalizer is in the fact the Americans generally drive far more miles than their foreign counterparts. We have far greater distances to cover and our infrastructure, suburbs vs job sites, are placed generally farther apart. Also, many nations can pick and chose to take public transportation to their jobs and use the auto for recreation only. Most Americans, particularly West Coasters, do not have such options.
