Heard that on the radio the other day, just now googled it.
I've been planting hostas for the last 3 years in my front yard. They do very well there!!! Even the ones that get a good deal of sun. The first ones I planted have doubled their size every year. I also decided to just make my little tiny plot on the side of the porch into a lily garden. There are four hostas there too (two older big ones and two large-leaf that I just planted this year.) I have two day-lilies that do OK, but not great, another sturdy lily that has a short flowering season but boy are they pretty (none of these has flowered yet) and this year I planted some short Asiatic lilies too that are flowering now and seem to be doing well. All are yellow except one of the Asiatics, which is a red tinged with just a bit of brown; not a brick red but not a wine or true red either. Really cool color that I have a hard time figuring out how to describe. The yard still looks a little bare because I haven't spent that much time on planting but it's getting there. |
