1998, Triton big-8, 251,000 miles.
But I got all kinds of crap hangin' off the outside turbulatin' away my fuel efficiency: a deer-splasher in front, a ladder and spare tire in back, whip aerial and trailer mirrors on the sides, and six racks with permanently attached ropes, cable-locks, and yak-stacker. And, or course, there is always a canoe on top.
I boosted it from 12 to 13 by taking off the cargo box from the roof, and getting new tires. I can only get close to 14 by keeping below 65 MPH.
I get 28 (city) / 37 (hiway) in my l'il Toyota, though, so I still cannot bring myself to get rid of my capacious home-away-from-home, which I use only for road-trips or carrying large loads (my Toyota can fit two people and two gym bags. If they're very small gym bags.).
