Re: question Tripod/monopod for DSLR cbk1 New

Saw this on the interweb somewhere.  Instead of using a tripod to stabilize your camera, try this.

Go to the hardware store and buy: 1. A large washer, 2. A screw that fits in the tripod mount on your camera, 3. A ball of string (I expect that dental floss would work well too.)

Tie the string to the washer.

Wrap the other end around the screw, which is screwed into your tripod mount,

Step on the washer and hold the camera up to your eye, as if you were taking a photo.  Note the length of string required.

Fix the string to the screw such that it is very taught when you are stepping on the washer and holding the camera.

The taught string dampens much of the vibration in your hand, allowing for longer exposure times.

Does this make any sense?
