I'd recommend just going to multiple bike shops and demo as many as possible.

Gage the staff at the shops - if any of them try to sell a beginner level rider looking for traveling on what the OP posted, I'd leave and find another shop. They're trying to 'up' you. You are most likely looking for what Turtle suggested.

Have fun trying them out, and get one that fits well.
