my grandson has really gotten into riding bikes and since I have the perfect place for doing such, I pulled out my old rack that I haven't used since selling my mazda pickup over a year ago. It is a receiver hitch type and fit the old mazda perfectly. My Tundra has a receiver hitch and it accepted the male part of the rack ok, although somewhat less tighter than the old truck. When I put the bolt in to tighten it, I realized the 2 washers that I always used (yano, that crooked shaped washer and flat washer placed together) made the bolt too short so I removed them and the length was perfect to insert the safety pin in the bolt. I made sure it was tight and we loaded the bikes and took off. When we got back home after hitting several gravel/dirt roads with pot holes, I noticed the rack had a little too much play in it and when I checked the bolt after we parked the truck, it was loose enough to make the rack wobble. The safety pin was secure and not stressed so I tightened the bolt up again and the next day, we took off again only to have the same problem when arriving back home. We're planning a bike/camp/paddle trip this coming weekend in TN and I don't want to be constantly worried/checking on this issue. What would be the best thing to do?
