You're saying that people dislike homosexuality because they're secretly afraid they might swing that way. But swinnging that way would only be bad to them if they disliked homosexuality in the first place. Circular argument.
Let me replace homo and hetero in your post with other words to illustrate:
"There are two kinds of people generally for whom BEING A ROCKCLIMBER is no threat at all, those who ARE ROCKCLIMBERS because they know who they are, and those (like me) who are solidly PADDLERS for whom BEING A ROCKCLIMBER holds no appeal whatsoever. It's those who are the most in doubt of their own SPORT PREFERENCE who seem to see the most threat in BEING A ROCKCLIMBER, probably precisely BECAUSE they can see the possibility of swinging that way themselves."
Sound absurd, right? That's because no one would be horrified to realize that they preferred rock climbing to paddling. And that's because no one hates rock climbing that much in the first place. You'd only hate turning a certain color if you hated that color in the first place. Otherwise, why would you really care at all.
Who knows why people dislike homosexuality--and IMO, who cares. The real question is why they think the government should enforce that dislike. Especially when they tend to decry government influence in things they do like, like guns. |
