I agree that it has been a brilliant tour, best since Lemond's amazing last day time trial.
The CSC team versus Cadel. Cadel singlehandedly fighting off 3 riders working together plus another 4-5 who only care about him. And to answer your question, he will win, albeit by a small margin.
The CSC move to get Frank in Yellow so that Cadel would have to fight his (and his Brother's) every move was fantastic. Cadel sits all day long and covers up 6-7 guys attacks, by himself. Meanwhile Sastre, who has sat at the back of the lead pack feigning weakness for days, takes off and puts 2 minutes on everyone. Absolutely brilliant coaching. Evans has blown me away with his ability to cover everything the lead pack throws at him. I don't know that I have ever seen one person do as much work in a tour. Sure he let Sastre go, but Sastre hadn't given any indication that he had that ride in him
But this is the problem, Schleck can't time trial. Too skinny. Sastre is a decent time trialist but is also really small. Cadel has proved he has a much deeper motor than anyone else in the race. Sure guys have left him for short distances, but no one has put in the effort all day every day like the dude has.
I personally think Cadel can put 1.5 minutes on Sastre over 31 miles . Only thing Sastre has going for him is that he will be hearing in his ear just how fast he has to go the entire time. My prediction, though, is that by the 20 mile mark they will be in a virtual tie and Cadel will end up winning by about 10-20 seconds. Sastre second, Kohl third.
Imagine if Cadel had any support whatsoever
