You're usually a nice and decent guy and all, but one more childish and nonsensical remark about me screaming murder or whatever nonsense you make up to try to derail a decent discussion about tactics into a name calling contest and I'll toss you in a killfile!
Now back to the discussion: You're not listening to what I'm saying, and trying to put words in my mouth that I didn't say.
I don't claim that they need to assault every house. I was talking about the houses that they did assault. The insurgents in Falluja had usually one safe house every couple of houses. with very few per block. Since the layout of these houses is very similar, the assault through the front door means first barging in through the walled yard, then into the lower floor, taking bullets from upper stories. When they stormed in, they caught booby traps, grenades being tossed down from above, shots through the floors and ceilings, in which small holes had been made. The troops then had to fight up all the way. That's not the smart way to clear a building!
Attacking from the next door houses' roofs, maybe even through the sewers as well as through the front door would be a lot more effective (no-one being able to escape as easily), making it a lot more difficult to take out as many U.S. troops as they did now.
Your remark about using helicopters and Black Hawk down is not relevant. There is a simple staircase in most Falluja houses, which will even get heavily laden troops all the way to the roof of the house... That's the simplest way to reach a roof. Bring some ladders or planks, and you're able to cross roofs.
