	Changing out the elastic cord should be a snap.  Am I missing something?  Also, you can take just about any aluminum pole (they have a pretty standard diameter) and cut it to length to fix a badly broken section and have it fit your tent.  The only tricky part is getting the "tips" off without splintering the end of the pole.  Tip: use a heat gun or torch to expand the metal and it'll slip on out with a little force.
