Dear Friends and Family,
“Building Teams, Bridging Communities”. This is the motto of a unique group of people that believe and are devoted to helping others. Appropriately named, ‘The Futbol Project’, their goal is to put a smile and a ray of hope in a child’s life by donating soccer equipment to orphans in Honduras. These children often play with nothing more than plastic coke bottles because the orphanages in Central America have no way of paying for equipment.
The Futbol Project (www.thefutbolproject.org) is a non-profit organization devoted to sharing the love of soccer and giving the neccessary resources so children can play. Soccer balls, shoes, and uniforms are all needed. In 2004, The Futbol Project raised $2,600 for their mission. In 2005, their goal is $10,000 so that help can reach the five Central American orphanages in hopes of helping these children to experience the game with all its physical, psychological, emotional and social benefits.
I have the unique opportunity of traveling in June 2005 to Honduras with this amazing group to work with these children at the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos orphanage. This particular orphanage, the NPH, is a charitable organization serving orphaned and abandoned children in Honduras and the Caribbean. Their mission is to provide shelter, food, clothing, healthcare and education in a Christian family environment based on unconditional acceptance and love, as well as, sharing and a working responsibilty. There is a worldwide community of donors, staff and volunteers that enable the NPH to help the children become caring and productive citizens in their culture. The goal of the trip is to bring awareness of reality outside of our own respective communities.
This is a big trip. Any donation will help and I am formally asking for support. I am trying to raise money to help pay for transportation (including insurance), lodging, food, and funds that will be used directly for the Futbol Project. Due to the short notice I am asking for all donations to be sent as soon as possible. On that note, remember, this is a tax deductible gift! If interested in helping in any way, please make checks to Nativity of Our Lady Parish and put, ‘Honduras’, in the memo area.
I appreciate your time and for your generosity. Feel free to visit the website for more information about the project. Thankyou.
Sincerely,
Vince Shay 2200 El Dorado St. Los Osos, Ca 93402 (805)528-1013 www.thefutbolproject.org vince@pointandshootproductions.com |
