get a sotar

Reasons:

1.  Weight is significantly less than say a Hyside.  This makes the raft much more manueverable, but also less forgiving if you hit a big hole sidways.  The extra weight of a hyside helps the raft travel through the hole, while the lighter weight sotar can  flip (although super giant holes like in the grand canyon would destroy any brand of raft).  That being said, if you know what you're doing a sotar is much better

2.  Tracking and Turning....easier to turn because of weight....the ribbing on the floor makes it track really well.  The material SOTAR uses allows the raft to be pumped up mugh tighter than other brands.

3.  removeable/adjustable thwarts

4.  simplicity of the floor design.....standard webbing.  If you are in a remote section and wrap often it is better to cut the lacing in the floor and easily pull the boat off the wrap rock, then use four foot straps (in a drybag) to reattach the 1/4 to 1/3 of the boat lacking the webbing.  Tie off (stopper knot) the ends of the remaining lacing.  Relace the boat or pay someone to relace the boat when you get back home.

Not every brand of boat has the simple (yet very effective) lacing.

I've always preferred non-diminishing tubes....less water coming into the bow of the boat.
