I adjust the oar position in relation to where I end up sitting, since my frame is totally modular and I adjust it differently for fun. I never go more than halfway forward though. I try to equalize the gear and add people to get more weight in the front.
I generally put dry bags, honey bucket, grill in the back bay. I sit on my drybox which usually weighs about the same as a volkswagen. Upfront I have my bench/table over the 100qt food cooler and a 120qt beer cooler behind that. I stuff fold up chairs, water jugs, and ammo cans under this section. All that stuff up front plus 2-3 people weigh it down pretty well until the beer supply gets low. In big waves I like a lot of weight forward and I might move the whole frame forward a few inches.
Keep in mind that I figure the boat handled awesome if I didn't flip it or pin it. If it gets myself, the gear, and the beer down the river it's the best boat ever made...... |
