You should have a flip line, either on the boat or around your waist. You should flip it in flatwater or eddy and find out if its hard to get on top of or not. Some people use little loops through the floor to assist in getting on top. Some people attach 2 paddles to the bottom so they can self paddle the flipped boat to shore. Some people run a rope side to side or bow to stern. Lace-in floors are the hardest to climb in my experience. Its usually easiest to climb up on the bow or stern than the sides.
We used to tether a boat in an eddy and let the trainees practice flipping it over and over until they got it down pat.
Dont make your first flip a whitewater one! Turnover practice is needed first!
Priorities in a flip are people first, environment second, and equipment last.
