We were really looking for any advice on smaller rafts or less-expensive inflatable kayaks, that don't cost an arm and a leg.
The dog on the river is not the issue...she has paddled with me before and does fine. She can sit on my cockpit or in a funyak with someone else. We enjoy having our dogs and kids on the more tame, leisurely rivers and didn't want to have to rent a funyak everytime. And the dog would much prefer to spend the time on the river and on the drive up and back with me than at home alone.
I am a fairly experienced paddler and trained in SWR, and I'm not going to do anything that's going to endanger me, the kid, or the dog, but thank you for your concern.
Thanks for those links...I will check them out.
If you have any experience with any of the less expensive inflatable kayaks that you would like to share (good or bad) I would love to hear it! We are not going to buy a wal-mart raft or anything, but can't afford to spend thousands of dollars. I'm trying to determine of the mid-range (few hundred dollars) would be worthwhile for class II whitewater or if we should try to fin a used commercial-grade for cheap (if they can be had for cheap...I'm not even sure). |
