	Gene is a guy who spends lots of time waveskiing at San Onofre.  I don't know him super well, but he's a nice guy and I've seen him helping lots of new paddlers and taking folks for rides on the tandem waveskis. I was asked to post this here, I hope the entire Paddlesurf community sends him good vibes and well wishes.   Kind of a reminder to watch for the water quality and support groups like Surfrider too. GERM GOT INTO HIS KNEE THROUGH THE CUT AND ATTACKED HIS TITANIUM KNEE JOINT.  HE BECAME FEVERISH WITHIN HOURS AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL.  THIS STUFF IS SO NASTY THAT IT ACTUALLY ATTACKS THE TITANIUM.  THEY HAD TO REMOVE HIS ARTIFICIAL KNEE JOINT.  HE CALLED TODAY AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO KICK THE INFECTION OUT.  HE SOUNDED TERRIBLE EVEN THOUGH HE SAID THAT HE WILL BE OK.  THE KNEE IS ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL PARTS OF THE BODY AND HE IS ON LOTS OF PAIN MEDICATION.  IT WILL BE SEVERAL MONTHS UNTIL HE CAN GET A NEW KNEE JOINT.  HE IS AT THE MISSION VIEJO HOSPITAL.    STEVE"
