note Looking for help on surf kayak design New

I'm hoping someone here can help me out.  I'm a whitewater and sea kayaker, and board surfer here on the North Oregon coast.   I'm also build kayaks for a living.

I want to build a surf kayak for myself to go out in on bigger days and I'm looking for advice.   My paddle out is usually long and often right through the break.   I'm looking to get on a wave early and run hard from fast peeling beach break, nothing fancy, maybe a cutback now and then but mostly I just want something that will hold in high on a wave so I don't bottom out and then get hammered by the lip.

I'm thinking something ten feet long and 21 inches wide with 12 inches of kick in the bow and 2 inches of kick in the tail.  But what do I know?

I'd like to make a kayak without fins but if that won't hold in then I guess I gotta use fins.  Do the IC boats hold into a wave?

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.
