Personal info: I started tandem canoeing whitewater with my dad in 1990, and then we took our first kayaking class in 1994.  Around 99 I got back into it and bought my first setup in 2000.  For the next 4-5 years I did nothing but boat as much as possible, ditch psychotic girlfriend, and met my future wife at roll practice.  We learned together and travelled together, now we live together and take care of our new son Alexander together.

I have gone through many phases in the sport, from playboating, to the social events, and trying to run everything under the sun.

Nowadays my preferred day on the river is one where I don't see anyone else out there that isn't part of my crew.  I like the solitude and such.  I prefer clean water, virgin forests, and non-roadside runs.  I like both pool-drop and continuous creeking, and big water as well.  Sometimes I like to go slow and take it in, other times I like to paddle till it hurts and then keep paddling.
My favorite days are those on new runs with unknown horizons and bends.  I am particularly interested in overnight trips and especially those out west.

My favorite local river is the Linville.  Nothing will EVER beat it.
My favorite local creek is the Raven Fork.  It is the most pristine, untouched and sickly clean/runnable creek anywhere.
